LABOUR AND DELIVERY

When you feel that you have gone into labour, I will initially speak to you by phone where we will formulate a plan of care. I take into account any previous history and distance to your home If I feel you are not yet in established labour, I will give you tips on how to cope, how to relax, what to expect and what changes to look out for so that you are aware when to call me again. I will stay with you throughout the labour and birth. When the birth of your baby is imminent, I call a second midwife to come and assist us. This will be at no extra cost to you.

Following the birth of your little miracle, I will stay with you for a few hours to ensure that all is well with you and your newborn. I won’t leave until you are comfortably tucked up in your own bed with your baby, having showered and eaten. I will also provide support with breastfeeding and any other issues that may arise.

If your labour becomes complicated and you decide to go into hospital, I will accompany you into hospital and hand your care over to the hospital midwives and doctors. I will remain with you and act as your advocate throughout your labour and birth.

As a midwife, I am fully trained to deal with any obstetric emergencies that may occur, I carry all the necessary equipment to be able to stabilise any situation, whether it be with mother or child , until medical help arrives.
