ABOUT ME
As
a midwife, I am experienced in both normal birth and what is regarded
by obstetricians as ‘high risk’ pregnancies. I feel that the
skills of being able to deal with high-risk situations are paramount in
such a profession. I left the NHS to become an independent midwife so
that I would have the time to practice true woman-centred care. Before
gaining my BSc (Hons) in midwifery, I first trained and practised as a
nurse. I specialised in surgical gynaecology and sexual health.
I am originally from South Africa but have been living in the United Kingdom since 1998. I live with my wonderful husband and my 2 beautiful children, Charlie and Layla in Harlow, Essex.
I do not believe that a good midwife has to first be a mother, however, after having 2 wonderful birth experiences with my own babies, I have gained an understanding of childbirth that was impossible to possess prior to becoming a mother.
